Why does GOD require worship

The following are comments I have regarding statements in various posts to this thread.  If you don’t recognize it as something you said, check your posts.  Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.  Every one of them is a statement that indicates the poster knows very little about GOD and his acts, and I could probably say literally nothing about his ways.  In any case, if you want to read what I have to say, go to my blog because this is something I think should not be limited to just a few who think they are the only ones with the right answer and still continue to interweave their denominational (I had a problem with this word, I had to re-type it three times because my fingers kept demon instead of denom), doctrine with true Christian Doctrine.  I’m not saying I have ALL of the answers, but these are some I can correct.

“I think they are viewing god as something created by man that should behave in a way that they want them to. It is a copout because if you try to find out what type of god they would believe in you would find that they have made have made themselves god because this new god exists to serve them, and not the other way around.”

Unfortunately, the ones that consider themselves atheists and agnostics are not the only ones that view their existence from this perspective.  There are too many people that consider themselves Christians that will only worship a GOD that fits their criteria.

“If you created something and it does not fulfill its intended purpose, are you meglo-maniacal for deciding to discard or destroy it? In this case, God has given us free will to choose not to fulfill our purpose, but that does not mean that we are any less responsible for the consequences of making the wrong decision.”

Again, there are too many that call themselves Christian that will not accept a GOD that looks on HIS people thusly.  They only choose to worship a GOD that has a loving father image, and will not treat HIS people in a manner in which the following verses express.  If you think this is all Old Testament, be sure to check out the verses listed following these from Jeremiah.

     (Jer 18:2)  Arise,H6965 and go downH3381 to the potter’sH3335 house,H1004 and

                        thereH8033 Iwill cause thee to hearH8085 (H853) my words.H1697

      (Jer 18:3)  Then I went downH3381 to the potter’sH3335 house,H1004 and, behold,H2009

                                 he wroughtH6213 a workH4399 onH5921 the wheels.H70

      (Jer 18:4)  And the vesselH3627 thatH834 heH1931 madeH6213 of clayH2563 was

marredH7843 in the handH3027 of the potter:H3335 so he madeH6213 it

                        againH7725 anotherH312 vessel,H3627 asH834 seemedH5869 goodH3474 to the

                        potterH3335 to makeH6213 it.

      (Jer 18:5)  Then the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 toH413 me, saying,H559

      (Jer 18:6)  O houseH1004 of Israel,H3478 cannotH3808 H3201 I doH6213 with you as

                        thisH2088 potter?H3335 saithH5002 the LORD.H3068 Behold,H2009 as the

                        clayH2563 is in the potter’sH3335 hand,H3027 soH3651 are yeH859 in mine

                        hand,H3027 O houseH1004 of Israel.H3478

       (Jer 18:7)  At what instantH7281 I shall speakH1696 concerningH5921 a nation,H1471 and

                        concerningH5921 a kingdom,H4467 to pluck up,H5428 and to pull down,H5422

                               and to destroyH6 it;

       (Jer 18:8)  If thatH1931 nation,H1471 againstH5921 whomH834 I have pronounced,H1696

                                turn from their evil,H4480 H7451 I will repentH5162 ofH5921 the evilH7451

                                thatH834 I thoughtH2803 to doH6213 unto them.

       (Jer 18:9)  And at what instantH7281 I shall speakH1696 concerningH5921 a nation,H1471

                               and concerningH5921 a kingdom,H4467 to buildH1129 and to plantH5193 it;

       (Jer 18:10)  If it doH6213 evilH7451 in my sight,H5869 that it obeyH8085 notH1115 my

                        voice,H696 then I will repentH5162 ofH5921 the good,H2896 wherewithH834 I

                        saidH559 I would benefitH3190 them.”

Other verses referencing the potter’s house and the potter and GODs work and attitude toward HIS people are:

     Jer 19

     Lam 4

     Zec 11

     Mat 27

     Rom 9

     Rev 2

I think it’s a reasonable question to ask why a God who is perfect is going to get angry because someone doesn’t WORSHIP him, and we can’t diminish the fact that, according to the Bible, he is angry and even HATEFUL towards those who will not worship him. “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire”; that just strikes me as angry. Maybe it sounds different to you. I don’t think this objection is defeated simply because some atheists want to make their own God.”

Of course it’s a reasonable question, but the reasonableness of it is determined by your reason for asking.  If you’re asking out of an honest desire to understand GODs ways, it is a reasonable question.  If you’re asking just to be argumentative and don’t really care WHY HE gets angry, then no answer given, no matter how accurate or who gives it, it could even come from Christ Jesus himself and you would not be satisfied with it.

Suggestion: Go back and re-read the Bible, from Adam on.  Make a list of all the things that GOD has done for HIS people.  Starting with giving Adam authority over all living creatures by allowing him to name them.  All the way up through Jesus Himself and the statement that “All the promises of GOD in HIM are yea and in HIM amen.  Which means that all of the promises from Adam on are available to those who are in Christ Jesus.

You will also find that a lot of them are conditional based on the response (reaction) of the people to GOD.  Now imagine yourself being in the place of GOD (with extreme fear and trembling).  All or most of the people, depending on the time and circumstances, that HE bestowed HIS favors on, turned around and either literally or figuratively, by moaning and groaning, complaining, criticizing, the circumstances, were putting HIM to test and spitting in HIS face with their ungrateful attitude.

Their rebelliousness against HIM is what brought about the flood, and HE started over with Noah and his family.  There are many that believe the beginning with Adam was a starting over.  And, if it hadn’t been for Moses talking HIM out of it, HE would done the same thing with the Israelites HE brought out of Egypt and started over with Moses.  Could you honestly say you know of anyone that would have done any different?

Now, multiply that by the by the worlds response to HIS sons sacrifice, whom HE loved more than anything else.  And the fact that HE did it in order for us to have access to HIM again and not be separated by a law where we could not be re-joined to him as in a marriage where it is not legal for one to remarry until the other one dies.  He wanted to be re-joined to us that bad.  Yet with all of HIS efforts and sacrifices, the world still thumbs it nose at HIM and Jesus.  If you were in HIS place, how would you feel?

“I don’t think the devil makes me doubt and ask questions any more than God makes me do good stuff. Everything that I have come to doubt has risen out of the natural flow of things. I don’t need help from an outside source; it simply happens.”

Again, I say, there are two powers of control in the world today, GOD on the one side and the devil on the other with the power and authority GOD allows him.  If you do not willing, voluntarily, gladly, submit to GOD, then you are under the control of the devil.  Your only choice is who you will submit to as your master.  If you think your thoughts are all your own, you’re extremely delusional.

With this I will end it for tonight and pick it up again at a later time.  For those that are interested, a little encouragement would help me get back to this subject sooner.
