Who would “YOU” save??

I saw a caption on the T.V. screen a little while ago that said something like. If you could, would you save 10,000 lives?

The initial gut, knee jerk reaction is “YES”. But then, a couple of minutes later, would you start thinking? Wait a minute, it didn’t specify whose or what lives. And, what would be the cost?

Now, don’t jump to conclusions. I’m not talking about money or ANY medium of exchange for that matter. I’m talking about moral, ethical, and other values we hold dear to our everyday existence.

Are these human or some other animal? I’m sorry if I offend animal lovers, that’s not my intention. I just happen to value human live above other warm and cold blooded creatures.

If human, are they people like Hitler or some of these modern day terrorists, or they the kind of people that would sit around and not lift a finger to save you or anyone else because it might entail using violence or are they the kind of people that would stand up for you if the situation was reversed?  Or, would you save them regardless of their response with no thought of compensation of any kind. The problem is, we may never know because most of us will probably never be put into that position.

That’s one of the big problems we’re facing in Iraq right now. If we are ever put in a situation like that, and I would hope that we are not, we would try to do the best we could and hope we made the right decision. Which is the dilemma our soldiers are facing right now.

The only way I would know if I were making the right decision would be if I were GOD. For which I thank GOD I’m not, I couldn’t handle the responsibility.

We know, from what is written in His word that He’s not going to save everybody. I would pray that if I was put in that position, that the 10,000 I saved would be some of those that He wants. I don’t know how you feel, I don’t intend to offend anyone, but I’m sure there will be at least some controversy.
