Surrender

How many of you have said, “I surrender” to GOD?  How many of you really understand what that means?  Come on now, fess up.  I can honestly say that I’ve said it more than once, much more than once.  I don’t think I can remember how many times that I’ve said to GOD, I surrender, and honestly meant it in my heart.  I imagine you have the same problem I have.  When you surrender to GOD, it means that you relinquish control.  You no longer do things according to your will.  In a manner of speaking, you allow yourself to become an empty shell, which according to scriptures, is no more than a cracked pot and is of absolutely no use what so ever.

I have to admit that this cracked pot that I am, growing up in a society that emphasizes self first, letting go and allowing someone else (willingly), to take control of my life, is the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. Yet, it’s the one thing that Christians, that really want to be Christians in more than name only, must do.

By being able to do this, GOD can become the Potter as referenced in Jeremiah and Isaiah and other passages in the Bible.  This is where HE puts us on the potters’ wheel and molds us into a little Christ, a reflection of HIS Son, Jesus.  By allowing HIM to mold us into what HE wants us to become, and not trying to be what we think HE wants us to be, is how we become a part of the body referred to in Scriptures.

The fact is, no matter how hard we try, no matter how many commandments and laws laid down in the Bible that we try to live by.  There is absolutely nothing what so ever that we can do to accomplish this. Because we all fall short no matter how good we think we are or how good others think we are, it ain’t gonna happen.  It has to be HIS work, Jesus work in us, the Holy Ghost (Spirit if you’d rather), doing GOD’s work in us that makes this happen.

So, how do we let go and turn control over to HIM?  I wish I could give you an easy answer.  It’s an ongoing process that has to be repeated every day.  First thing you do in the morning, as soon as you set foot out of bed, before you do anything else, commit yourself to the LORD for whatever purpose HE may have for you. No questions asked.  Then ask HIM and Jesus to be with you today as you face the hounds of hell nipping at your heels and the firey darts of the devil.  And ask HIM to make you able to pick up and carry the “Shield of Faith” and to put on and wear HIS whole armor against the wiles of the devil so you don’t fall into temptation.  And believe me, the devil will hit you with every temptation he can because you turned to GOD and Jesus the Christ.

May your trials and tribulations be big ones.  Because it is said that GODs’ most favored ones, and the closer you get, the harder it becomes, and the more sensitive you are to the pain you receive others.  Especially those you love.

Remember, Jesus said, “A man’s foes are those of his own household”, hope I quoted that exactly as it is written.  Anyway, if you want to live eternally in paradise, surrender, cessation of against-ness, is a must so GOD will no longer be against you.
