New Hobbies

Hello Folks;

     It’s been a while since I’ve posted what I’ve been up to lately.  Well, I’ve started a couple of new hobbies.  The first one is gold prospecting.  Joined the GPAA a few months back and I’ve been learning all i can while the weather was still uninviting.  It’s starting to get better and these ants in my pants are starting to  bite more and more telling me to get off my butt and get moving.  In other words, I’m ready to start scratching my itch.

     I also joined the local rock and gem society.  I spent my first day learning lapidary.  In case your not familiar with that word, it’s using tools such as stone cutters, grinders, sanders, and polishers to shape and polish stones.  It is also learning how to mount them in settings.  The good news about this is that the instructor told me that what I did was the best piece of work he’s seen for a first timer since he’s been teaching the art of lapidary.  It really didn’t matter if he was telling me the truth, at the time it made me feel rreeeaalll good.

     I guess I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but what the instructor said, gave me allot of incentive to use the gold I find and the semi-precious and precious stones I find to make jewelry. You know rings, pendants, necklaces, etc…

     It almost makes me feel like somebody dropped a bank vault in my lap.  According to what I’ve been told by the GPAA and the rock and gem society, don’t expect to get rich by prospecting and rock-hounding, but people have been known to make a fairly descent living at it.  Who could ask for anything more outside of Jesus himself coming and sitting down and talking to me.  To use an old hippie phrase, WOW!!  WHAT A RUSH!!!!!

     Y’all take care now.  Later
