My Trip pt. 9

Flatoutgold;
Thank you. I’m sure there is a reason for what I’m going through and things will work out in due time. I’ve stopped working on my RV temporarily to do other things which I’ll explain in my update. I thank you very much for the phone number and as soon as I finish these other things I’ll give him a call. Thanks again. Later. GOD bless. Take care now.
Harry
Me Gold Seeker;
Thank you. These look like sites I’ve already checked out but just to be on the safe side, when I start back on the RV I’ll check them out. Thanks again. Later. GOD bless.Take care now.

Primerib 1982;
Hey Dean, nice to meet you. These also look like places I’ve already checked out but like I said above, when I get back to working on my RV, I’ll check them out to be on the safe side. I appreciate your input as much as I do the old timers above and would like to say welcome to the forum. Later. GOD bless. Take care now.

Hey russau;
It makes me feel good that so many people want to help. To bad there not here, I could have had this thing up and running and out of here months ago. Well I guess GOD had other plans anyway so I’ll leave when it’s His good time. With you I salute those that are so helpful. Later. GOD bless. Take care now.
Harry
Hey MOUSE;
Yep, I’m still here. Plugging and plugging and plugging and… I ain’t giving up yet. Besides, I don’t thing GOD would let me if I wanted to. I HOPE!!! Later. GOD bless. Take care now.
Hey Folks;
Before I get into my update, I want to respond to Grumps and russau.
Hey Grumps;
I hope you found a good pocket in that river. I imagine you know a lot better where to look than I do but the way I feel is it’s a little bit scary. I first ride around and look trying to remember, now where would Tom say the gold would most likely be in a place like this. I get a little intimidated by some of the places. I wonder, am I going to have to climb way up there or way down there. Should I try here or should I keep going. Is this the place that person told me to go to or did I take the wrong turn back there. It is an adventure, an experience that I wonder if I’m really doing it right. But guess what. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I started this and I’m going to finish it and I will wind up with some gold sooner or later.
Hey russau;
Yes I do meet some friends along the way. Some I wish I could have brought on this trip with me. But unfortunately, I also run across people, like where I’m having to stay right now that start off being friendly but when they find out your interested in things they aren’t and especially when they find out that you need help or something. All of a sudden you become an inconvenience to them and they tend to shy away. I don’t mean to be that way but under the current circumstances some things couldn’t be avoided. Oh well, my life doesn’t revolve around them and if they want to keep their distance, so be it. Other than that, I’ve still met some really nice people on my trip. And, like I said, I wish I could have brought some of them with me. Y’all take care now. GOD bless. Later.

Now for the promised update.
Hey Folks;
I guess I owe you a long overdue update on what I’m up to. Well, I went out and bought a 4WD truck. It’s a small one, a Dakota, but it’s good enough to get me where I’ve wanted to go so far. Now I’ve got to find some way to tow the blankity-blank thing when I get ready to move. And, I suppose, a breaking system for when I get to California.
After making sure it would get me there and back I stopped working on my RV and decided to check out a few places I’ve been told about in the area. Only a few specks so far but I haven’t been everywhere yet. One of the places I went to was up by the reservoir at Caballo. It’s mentioned in the “Miners Guide”. But I don’t think I was in the right spot there. I was probably everywhere but in the gulch. It isn’t marked any where around there so I guess I’ll have to ask someone exactly where it is next time I go.
I got a chance to check out a couple of the guns I got for cowboy action shooting, my revolvers, and the neighbor that’s been showing me around set a target, a 12oz beer can, on a bush branch about 30yds away. I fired about 20 rounds at it and he said I came within about a foot of the can with every shot. I guess that’s not too bad for the first time shooting that caliber gun as well as the branch, and target, waving in the wind.
I’ve still got a lot of dirt to go through so I can’t tell you how good the pickin’s are around here yet. But that won’t be too far down the road. I still haven’t made it up to the GPAA site between Hillsboro and Silver City yet so I guess I’ll be around here a little longer till I get to go everywhere I want to. By the way, Tom Massie was in Southwest Texas on Saturday’s show. Does anyone know exactly where He was at? It would be nice to know if I decide to backtrack and try to get some Texas gold.
I got a chance to go rockhounding with some members of the Mobile Rock & Gem society that came to New Mexico a little over a month ago. They were looking for some specific rocks in this area and invited me to go with them. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t think of the name of the rocks but I found some but they were not quite the quality that they said were the best ones of those particular rocks. It was still great to get out with someone that knows what they are doing and can guide someone as new as me in knowing what to look for. I sure wish I had an old timer to help me with my prospecting no better that my luck has been so far.
I found a water leak in my bathroom Friday. Luckily, it wasn’t my commode. Unluckily, it was the water line going into the back of it. Trying to work on it, I got a pop in my chest and woke up yesterday hurtin. I think it’s just a bruise, I hope, but it kinda stopped anything I was doing for a few days. No big deal, I’ll get over it. In the meantime, I’m going to see if I can find some material around here to make a sluice box or maybe a dry-washer or something. Can’t sit still too long or I’ll start getting fat-er again.
By the way, at one of the places we went to there was an old abandoned mine that looks like it either caved in at the mouth or was deliberately closed that way. Anyway the neighbor that’s been showing me around wants to try to reopen it and do some hard-rock mining. He thinks there might be more in there than what we found in the wash in front of it. I can’t say that we found more than a few specks which is a lot less that what we were told was there. He also wants to wait till the rainy season, which starts next month and build something like a “long-tom” and put it in the wash in front of the mine. I’m thinking maybe, but I don’t know. Anybody got any ideas? Well, I guess that’s about all I can think of for right now. Y’all take care now. GOD bless. Later.
Harry
Hey russau;
It’s written about on page NM-2 in the newest “Mining Guide” in the paragraph about Sierra County close to the bottom of the page. I did some riding around and saw some claims up by the mountains but don’t worry all I did was look around. I ain’t the kind to go diggin on someone elses claim unless they tell me to. The spot “Trujillo Gulch” isn’t marked anywhere and so far I haven’t been able to find anyone that can point it out to me. Plenty of people that can tell me different places to prospect but no one knows where the Gulch is. Some say the canyon is on the other side of the reservoir. I guess I’ll have to go back and see if I can find someone around the dam or campground that might can tell me. As far as your hair is concerned, you could try lettin it grow out like I did and use a brush a little more often. I think some of mine is growing back that way. At least some fuzzzzz anyway. Take care now. GOD bless. Later.

Hey! I am trying to compile a twitter list of Gulf Coast area bloggers to maybe see about a monthly or so meet up to help grow our blogs. I didn’t see your twitter link on your blog. Is this something you would be interested in?
BTW, found you on AL Live!
