Legislation

I don’t know how you feel, but I getting more concerned every day. I just received an update from the NRA concerning gun laws and areas open to outdoor recreation.
I have always been under the impression that the people that are elected to represent us are supposed to cast their votes for the good or all their constituents, not just the majority that voted for them and especially not just for any special interest groups.
Now I recognize that shooting sports and outdoor recreation activities are not everybody’s cup of tea. Well, in this country, that’s their right. However, the outdoors is for every ones enjoyment not just for those that want to sit in their home or apartment and look at it on television or in magazines and say, oh, how pretty, or oh, how nice. The outdoors is there for everyone to be able to enjoy, up-close and personal. And, I don’t mean on a guided tour on a carefully marked path where your closest encounter with the outdoor is 50 to 100 feet away.
Admittedly, there are some who would abuse this opportunity, mainly because the general consensus, or mentality if you will, in today’s society is “SELF”. Whatever pleases self comes first and the devil with the rest. That if leaving a place the way you found it is inconvenient to self, so be it. This opens the door for someone who comes behind you to get the idea, well, that’s the way I found it, why should I be any different. The mentality is perpetuated, unfortunately.
These few are the reason the majority are being punished with new laws, restrictions, and legislation. Mostly because these people that sit at home all the time and shut the world out see commercial ads on TV, in magazines and billboards showing what the few did and perpetuated and assume, the word meaning to make an ass out of you and me, that everyone that sets foot outside the carefully marked paths are responsible for it.
If those that sit at home could ever get an accurate report would find out different. Unfortunately there are some that would believe the worst no matter what. THAT is the perpetuated mentality in today’s society.
For every one of the ads that show the negative, there should be two that show the positive. Maybe, sooner or later, we could turn this mentality around.
I only hope it is accomplished before any more elected officials are put into office that vote to re-write or at least re-interpret the Constitution and our Bill of Rights.
One last thought for all of you who are Christians. I have been taught that, all it takes to open the door for the false prophet and the antichrist in this country would be to change the way the Bill of Rights is interpreted.
P.S. If you would like to check out the legislation yourself, you can find it at www.nraila.org.
