GODs’ Called
By Harry on Apr 17, 2008 in Religion
Many years ago, when I was in my younger 20’s, seamed like every time I turned around, someone was either wanting to testify too me, or wanting me to go with them to testify to others. Now, I believed in GOD, I knew in my heart that He was real. I just wasn’t sure that He wanted me. So, I started telling people, I know GOD is real, but if He wants me, “HE” will find a way to let me know when He’s ready too. It took a few years, I was almost 40 when it happened, but to me, it was unmistakable.
I won’t go into all the details, but the way it happened, I had no doubt. I will say that all of my life I had questions that no one could answer. The biggest, or at least the oldest I can remember was a question I asked my grandmother when she took me to church when I was about 10. Now, my grandmother wasn’t an educated woman, but she probably had more sense in her little finger than most of the people I’ve met in my life combined. She had to quit school in the 5th grade, being the eldest, to take care of about 7 or 8 brothers and sisters while her parents worked in the fields trying to make a living. Anyway, in church, I saw the word “tithes” on a wall plaque beside the pulpit and asked her what it was. She said, she didn’t know what it was, but she did know it was something we were supposed to do. That question, among many others went unanswered by any until He hit me in the face with a brickbat. That’s why I know it was Him. He got me listening to a man, at first, talking about things, not biblical, that I had been interested in all of my life. When I finally saw him preaching, I said, oh no, ain’t no way I’m going to listen to a preacher on television and immediately changed the channel. The problem I had was that I was so interested in the other things he was teaching about, that I kept going back to the channel. And then, before I really realized it, he was answering the questions I’d had all of my life concerning biblical issues. I was hooked, it was set deep, and I couldn’t get loose. I also learned how GOD calls people through Jesus.
The process goes something like this; John 6:44 Jesus said; No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:… John 6:65 Jesus said; Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. John 14:6 Jesus said; I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me. All getting to the point that, for you to be called, GOD puts the receiver, (so to speak); in you that draws you in His direction. You want to find out about Jesus, and through Jesus is the only way to get to the Father.
The Parable of the Sower, (Mat 13:2-9, Mark 4:1-9, Luke 5:5-8), gives the four types of people that hear the Word that the sower, sows. It also tells that of the four, only one is good soil that produces good fruit. Which is the indication of the statement; many are called but few are chosen.
The explanation, which follows, (Mat 13: 11-23, Mark 4:11-20, Luke 8:11-15), explains the parables and tells why Jesus speaks in Parables. In other words He’s saying, some aren’t meant to hear and understand and see and perceive. A literal meaning, they’re not wanted.
Those that are wanted, GOD will send to one of His Domatah’s, don’t know if I spelled that right, (His gift minister) which is an Eph 4:11-16; Apostle (sent one), Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher. In the Greek, the last two are hyphenated (Pastoring-Teacher, or Teaching-Pastor). In His chosen time, He sent me to a Teaching-Pastor that would open my eyes, turn on lights, and answer all my questions.
In the words of G. Campbell Morgan; How long halt you? If GOD be GOD, worship Him. If Baal be God, worship him. Baal symbolizes the world, the flesh and the devil. Don’t halt between the two, go one way or the other. In other words, don’t procrastinate, move in one direction or the other, with conviction.
How long halt you. Good thought. G. Campbell Morgan sounds like a good man.
