Communion

I saw a post on a forum I went to that was entitled “Eating Christ”. I thought, uh, uh, no, that ain’t what happens. So, I decided to see what the Catholic Encyclopedia had to say about it. I saw where that person got that erroneous idea. They had a Communion for every occasion, this person or that, Saints, what time, where, etc… By the time they got around to the actual act of taking Communion, they placed more importance on the elements than the manner of partaking. This transubstantiation of changing the bread and wine to the body and blood of Jesus is way off track.
The purpose of communion is to claim the promises of salvation and healing that started with the Passover in Egypt when the Angel of the LORD passed over the houses that had blood spread around the door facing and killed the firstborn in the houses that didn’t.
In the houses with blood around the door, the people ate the roasted lamb for strength. The next day when the people of GOD left Egypt, an estimated 2 ¼ to 3 ¼ million people that had been in slavery at least 50 to 100 years before Moses was born. Psalm 105 said there was not a feeble one in their midst. Which means that they not only received strength, all that were sick, lame or handicapped in any way, were healed.
GOD told Moses to tell the people to continue this practice forever. As a substitute for the blood, they used (drank) wine. As a substitute for the lamb, they ate bread. Which is what Jesus was doing at the appointed time of Passover in the Jewish tradition according to the law.
Jesus, by taking the Passover meal, according to the law, not only fulfilled the law, but also at the same time explained what the foreshadow of the Passover really meant when He indicated that the wine represented His blood and the bread His body. He said to do this remembering Him. Thereby establishing the practice, which we call today, Communion, The LORDs’ supper, the last supper, among other designations.
By drinking the wine, we are drinking a symbol of His blood that was shed for, not only for sinning man, but also for ALL sin ever committed, is being committed, or will be committed.
By eating the bread (preferably, but not necessarily unleavened), that symbolizes His body; we are healed of all of our afflictions, physical, mental, and emotional.
This is accomplished in one way only. By keeping your eyes, mind, and everything else focused on the one who was the ultimate sacrifice, and paid the price willingly as the kinsman redeemer for all mankind, Jesus the Christ. For no man is worthy, only Jesus the Christ is worthy. But, man can partake worthily by keeping your eyes on the only worthy one, Jesus.
This is done worthily when you take the wine by remembering that you were and are made worthy by the blood of the Lamb, and by thanking GOD for his grace too you,
You also partake worthily when you say, “with His stripes I was and am healed”. This is referenced by Isaiah 53: 4,5, and by 1st Peter 2:24.
The main purpose of communion is not for a miracle to happen to the bread and wine, It is a way in which GOD can produce a miracle in you, us, all of us unworthy ones, as long as we can see clearly enough to keep our eyes on Christ. And remember that only through FAITH IN CHRIST is salvation and healing received.
